Employees of Ambo Farmers’ Cooperative Union and the West Shewa Zone Cooperative Development Agency Plant Over 10,000 Trees

To strengthen green development, conserve natural resources, and mitigate the challenges caused by climate change, employees of the Ambo Farmers’ Cooperative Union (AFCU) and the West Shewa Zone Cooperative Development Agency jointly conducted a large-scale tree-planting campaign today.
The program began in the morning, during which 10,000 seedlings of different species were planted at various selected locations.
The tree-planting activities were carried out at the following sites:
• Dandi District: AFCU’s Mechanization Center;
• Gudar Town: AFCU’s livestock production and rearing area; and
• Ambo Town: The premises of AFCU’s Animal Feed Processing Factory and Flour Milling Factory.
Speaking during the event, Mr. Kumsa Darara, General Manager of Ambo Farmers’ Cooperative Union, expressed his appreciation to the employees who gathered early in the morning and actively participated in the tree-planting campaign.
Regarding the tree-planting initiative, Mr. Kumsa stated: “This is not a one-day activity; it is a year-round responsibility. Therefore, we urge everyone to ensure that the seedlings planted today are properly protected, cared for, and supported to grow successfully.”
He further encouraged all employees to take responsibility for the continued care, protection, and monitoring of the planted seedlings.
Similarly, Mr. Tadese Fedesa, Head of the West Shewa Zone Cooperative Development Agency, stated that planting different types of trees not only demonstrates the employees’ commitment to working collectively but also reflects their dedication to implementing the government’s green development plans and strategies.
He further stated:“ When we return for a follow-up visit next year, we hope that the trees planted today will have grown and will not only provide us with shade but also contribute to food production.”
He encouraged the employees to protect, regularly care for, and closely monitor the growth and development of the planted trees.
The joint tree-planting initiative was recognized as an important contribution to mitigating climate change, protecting and conserving natural resources, and strengthening the foundation for sustainable green development.
The tree-planting program also demonstrated the importance of strengthening cooperation between the employees of Ambo Farmers’ Cooperative Union and the West Shewa Zone Cooperative Development Agency. Their joint effort is expected to make a significant contribution to building a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable environment for present and future generations.
